I-Pad in every hand

This idea in theory looks pretty good.  E-books and tablets are a great way to get more information into the hands of the students.  The students will have the ability to work more effectively on work outside of the classroom.  However in the long run how long will these students take care of the tablets.  If you have seen a students text book you know how well most of them take care of them.  At first they may be more protective of the tablet, but eventually you are going to end up with plenty of broken ones and they are not cheap to fix.  Also, the ability to control content and how that content is delivered.  While tablets put the content in the hands of the students, how do we regulate that they are working on the content.  I think that there are plenty of positives and negatives with this idea, but I think that a rush to implement it would be counter productive, and cost prohibitive.
